A pair of very Important Imperial Fan Paintings

清乾隆 御製龢風雙箑

Description

Both fan bones made of hardwood and carved with poems and signatures of Chien Da Shin and Bi Yuan, high ranking court officials of the Qianlong period. The reverse sides carved with seven Song dynasty poems. The first fan is painted with a pair of peacocks on snow covered plum blossom branches and rocks by the Qianlong court official Wan Chen Pei. The reverse with a poem by Song dynasty poet Lu Yui and inscribed by the Qianlong court calligrapher Gi Huang. The second painted by Hong Wu, a cousin of the Qianlong Emperor, and depicting a scene of scholars in leisurely pursuits in a wooded landscape. As a military general, Hong Wu excelled in poetry, calligraphy and figural paintings. The reverse with fourteen imperial poems composed by Qianlong and transcribed by Ren Yuan, a famous artist and poet serving in the Qing Court. Both fans are housed in a rectangular hardwood inlaid with silver portraying two dragons flanking the inscription “Yu Ze He Fon Sung Xiang,” Pair of Imperial Made Fan Paintings. 御製扇兩幅一對, 扇骨為硬木質, 內為設色紙本, 兩扇置於紫檀木硬盒, 盒面題「御製龢風雙箑」填金六字。扇分二面, 正面皆繪畫,反面與扇骨題有詩句。繪畫分別為汪承霈、弘旿所繪,名後鈴印。紙本題詩有二, 一為阮元所錄之乾隆御題詩,共十四首, 皆出於「清高宗御製詩四集,卷四, 古今體一百四十九首,壬辰四」。一為嵇璜所錄之陸遊所寫的五言古體詩,共光首,參考「放翁詩選前集 二」、「劍南詩稿卷三、卷四」; 名後鈴印。扇骨宋人詩句則為錢大昕、畢沅所書。

不論是精美的繪畫、精絕的書法、高超的雕工都在此對扇中完美呈現。配合六位乾隆時期知名學者文人的加持,盡集乾隆一朝的書畫雕刻之藝術精華。論藝術, 是難得的清宮舊藏精品; 論歷史, 也是一件見證乾隆時期藝術巔峰的稀有文物。
